The Nia Technique

Do you find most exercise programs unfulfilling? Are you looking for an organized program that you will look forward to attending? Well, then give The Nia Technique a try. Perhaps you've heard of Nia but don't really know what it is. Nia stands for Neuromuscular Integrated Action. By combining 9 different movement forms; Tai Chi, Akido, Tai Kwan Do, Modern dance, Jazz dance , Duncan dance, Yoga, Feldenkris & Alexander technique, routines stimulate you to move 'your body's way.' By doing so you can bring your heart rate up at your own pace enabling your mind, body & spirit the ability to 'self-heal.' Avoid injury and pain. Embrace the JOY you will feel when listening to your own Mind, Body & Spirit in order to get fit. Suitable for men & women of all ages & ability levels.
Wear comfortable clothing & bring water.

Get a well-rounded workout first thing in the morning with cardio, strength training and stretching. Join us for a power walk on the rail trail, followed by yoga in the studio. We will walk to wake up and warm up, then incorporate some strengthening and toning movements along the way. We will spend about 45 minutes on the trail and then go inside for 45 minutes with core work and stretching, ending with relaxation.

The instructor, Maggie Rueda, RYT, is a certified personal fitness trainer in addition to yoga. Maggie's focus is to help her clients set attainable goals and achieve those goals by creating exercise programs that are fun and engaging, but also realistic and effective. She holds her 200-hour Yoga Alliance, AFAA, and Reiki certifications.

Never done yoga? Still feeling awkward in mixed level classes? Learn basic yoga asanas (postures) with modifications to suite your body. Expect plenty of verbal instruction, hands on adjustment from the instructor, and a slow pace to allow you to feel at ease in each asana.

This class is designed for children ages 8 to 13 years old. We will learn various breathing techniques to help your child relax and become more focused. As a summertime special, we will concentrate on using yoga as a cross training tool. Your child will gain core strength, balance and flexibility in a fun, non-competitive environment. Just in time for fall activities, your kids will have the tools to incorporate the benefits of yoga into their favorite sport!
